Hours of Operation

The BD FACSAria Fusion and the Sony SY3200 are available for operator-assisted cell sorting by appointment only on weekdays, Monday through Friday.

These instruments are operated by facility staff. Advance appointments are required. In addition, consultation with Michael Gregory, Facility Director, is required to optimize experimental design, cell preparation protocols, and parameters for machine setup (see below).

Self-serve analyzers are available 24 hours a day for use without staff assistance. However, you must request and receive training on these machines and demonstrate knowledge of equipment. Operator assistance on these machines is available during facility hours.

Sort data will be uploaded to the Flow Cytometry Facility Sharepoint site. After your sort, you will need to request access to the Sharepoint via IMSS at help.caltech.edu. Click HERE to see what the request should look like when you submit it through IMSS.

Steps to request service and/or training:

• Fill out our biosafety form. Download it HERE
• Send your completed biosafety form to cellsort@caltech.edu and mikeg@caltech.edu ; mention that you are a new user and would like to use our facility for the first time
• We will then schedule a consultation and determine the proper instrumentation based on your experiment.
• After consultation, you will then be able to schedule your time directly with an operator for facility run experiments, or schedule your training on user-run instruments.
